Blog-Blah to Blog-Tastic!

(The Algonquin Round Table)

I've been increasingly interested in how we can take this little blog from our personal round table to something that provokes widespread curiosity. Just look at this - we ARE our own Algonquin Round table, and our own Lost Generation, and Dadaists, and the Friday Street Club, and the Bloomsbury Group, and the Pastel Society. We ARE the new generation.

(The Lost Generation)

The only thing we need now is prospective members to reject in order to obtain our full glory as a literary and arts circle. So how can we set ourselves apart from our predecessors? How can make this blog as creative as its contributors? A new background? Categorized posts? I'm thinking we should recommend and document our events: mystery dinner night and the lawn olympics, and pie day, and Guy's Night. Any thoughts?

I agree. We ARE our own round table. I call dibs on Dorothy Parker! J/K - Casey, you are obviously Dorothy (if you so choose to be) since you first introduced her to the rest of us. So I will be...... Ezra Pound. He always seems so nice in Hemingway's books.

But seriously - I don't know why we haven't really documented our activities before. We really should. We should announce our activities on the blog, then post a follow up entry with pictures and such from the actual event.

I think I need to think a little bit more on this subject too. I know there's some awesome stuff we can do to really push the blog and make it our own. Really, we just need full participation and enthusiasm. But I guess we can't force that :). I'm thinking that the next salon meeting we should have some really intensive discussions about what is the salon? is it serving it's purpose? What can we do to streamline it? make it more purposeful? etc. It will be very good, and hopefully very productive.

Well, I was actually going to come make a post about the lawn sport olympics, so I'll go do that now in an effort to begin hyping up our events. yay!

Actually I've thought about it long and hard, and I want to be Sophie Tauber. She's so badass. Not that Ezra Pound isnt. Because he totally is.

I agree. We should have a salon meeting. It can coincide with our LSO committee meeting. I like the idea of documentng our events. They are usually quite fine and also very creative. Also, if we get as organized and excited about them as we are the Lawn Sport Olympics then I think more of the events will actually take place (i.e., guys night). We can also talk about how to streamline and make our blog more purposeful.
Oh and i don't know who I'd want to be but i have always loved Gertrde Stein because she was a catalyst for so much wonderful art and literature. Also, I totally love F. Scott Fitzgerald who is kinda a part of the lost generation.Or maybe I could be Zelda instead. No, i think i like Gertrude the best.

If Sir Blog were personified I'd say 'Pat yourself on the back!' I'm very excited about our new found enthusiasm. This is going to be an excellent summer for the arts. :)
