I miss you blog. It seems I never have time for you anymore.
What's my excuse? Well... there's school, and work. Just a general lack of time and energy. Etc. etc.
In fact, I think I ought to make an iTunes playlist that reinforces my apology.
We'll call it "Excuses Excuses"
Take the theme, interpret it as you will, and run with it (If you ever manage to get around to it.)
:)

Ok, I think I've made a mix I'm satisfied with. I'm going to add commentary for all of these songs, just to explain why I chose them.
Excuse Me Mr. - No Doubt *Start off the mix with an obvious choice here.
It's All Been Done - Barenaked Ladies *As have all excuses
Because - The Beatles *It sounds like the Beatles are startin up some excuses with this title.
The First Cut is the Deepest - Cat Stevens *Isn't it though?
Believe What You Say - Ricky Nelson *Prudent advice in avoiding making excuses. Or at least making them legitimate in your mind.
Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog - Creedance Clearwater Revival *Jeremiah sounds like he was full of excuses
Under Pressure - David Bowie and Queen *A state under which you may feel the need to make excuses
Masquerade - Phantom of the Opera *What excuses are
Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton *Dolly sounds like she's dealt with men who use excuses before.
Killing Me Softly With His Song - The Fugees *Needs to explanation
Shy Girl - OTown *The worst excuse of a song ever. So blatantly trying to garner the admiration of shy girls everywhere - I'm not buyin it O Town!
Til I Hear it From You - Gin Blossoms *Gin Blossoms are about to stop being so trusting.
Mind Games - John Lennon *Some people play them
Come Out Clean - Jump Little Children *Stop with the excuses!
A Well Respected Man - The Kinks *Offers no excuses
The Great Pretender - The Platters *Isn't he though?
Not Guilty - The Beatles *Again Beatles! What's with all the excuses?
Tale as Old As Time - Angela Landsbury *Mrs. Potts understands!
Is You Is or Is You Ain't (My Baby)? - The Andrews Sisters *The Andrews Sisters want to cut through the crap.
It's My Party - Lesley Gore *Part I - Johnny has no excuse
Judy's Turn to Cry - Lesley Gore *Part II - Lesley Gore has no excuse
I'm A Terrible Person - Rooney *At least they admit freely that they use excuses.
A Thousand Words - Savage Garden *But nothing legitimate said
Idiot Boyfriend - Jimmy Fallon *No explanation needed
You Talk Way Too Much - The Strokes *See Savage Garden song two above.
Say It To Me Now - Glen Hansard *Finish off the mix with an impassioned plea to just tell us the truth!
So at closer review, this "Excuses" mix is a pretty female-centric/sympathetic view on having to put up with excuses from guys. Who knew I had that bitterness in me?! lol. Who knows where that came from? I sure don't.
I love it! That's exactly what I wanted to discover with this playlist... how exactly do you define "excuses?" What connotations does it bring to mind. Mmm-mm Discovering things about words is delish lol.
